Yonk is a Macintosh application for authors of Interactive Fiction (IF) -- that is, "text adventure" games such as Infocom's Zork I or Scott Adams' Adventureland. In the early days of the home computer, text adventures dominated the market for entertainment software; as home computers grew more capable, though, text adventures were surpassed on the bestseller lists by graphical, action-oriented games.

There's still a quietly growing community of IF authors and players, however, and the tools and languages for writing interactive fiction have evolved over the years. Yonk is designed to work with Inform, a programming language designed especially for writing IF -- Yonk makes it easier to write a game in Inform, by automating repetitive tasks and handling some of the details.

No IF author should be without one!
